Thoracic surgery is the field of surgery dealing with surgical diseases of the chest, lungs and thorax.  Common illnesses include benign and malignant tumors of the lungs and mediastinum.  Additionally thoracoscopic procedures using minimally invasive techniques can be used for biopsies, bleb resection and other diagnostic and therapeutic intervention.  Our surgeons have been utilizing thoracoscopic techniques since 1990 and have extensive experience in this area.  Mediastinoscopy can also be performed to help in staging lung carcinoma.
